The Ankeny Christian Academy boys’ cross country team is headed back to the Class 1A state meet.
The third-ranked Eagles, who placed second in Class 1A a year ago, easily won a district title on Thursday at South Hamilton. They swept the top three places in the 5K race and scored 31 points, finishing far ahead of runner-up North Butler Greene (122 points).
Alex Davis won the race in a time of 16 minutes 43 seconds. Zachary Gardner took second in 17:02, and Cayden Fry was third in 17:07.
Charlie McLaughlin and Luke Reitsma also earned top-15 finishes. McLaughlin placed 12th in 17:52, and Reitsma finished 13th in 18:03.
Ethan Benton took 25th for the Eagles in 18:49. Matthew Heisterkamp finished 27th in 19:03.
The Class 1A boys’ race will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2:45 p.m. at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
