The Ankeny bowling teams were swept by visiting Urbandale in a CIML Conference dual meet on Thursday at B-Roll Bowling.
The J-Hawks won the boys’ meet by a score of 2,310 to 2,093. They won the girls’ meet by a score of 1,953 to 1,776.
The Ankeny girls’ team dropped to 0-2 in the conference. Olivia Harris led the squad with a 342 series, while Kylie Morgan had a 295 total.
Both of them had higher scores than all six Urbandale bowlers, who posted totals ranging from 225 to 277.
“I did have an injury (in the preseason), but it wasn’t major–just a small fracture in my toe,” said Harris. “Because of that I was out for a few days and wasn’t bowling my best. However, I am back and ready to bring the heat.”
Ankeny’s Brooklyn Dietz rolled a 192 series. Piper Zeman had a 187, Willow Zeman bowled a 186, and Ava Johnson had a 163.
Thursday’s meet was the season opener for the boys’ squad. Individual scores for the boys’ meet have yet to be posted.
Both Urbandale teams remained unbeaten on the season. The J-Hawk girls are now 2-0 in the league and 3-0 overall, while the boys’ records are 1-0 and 2-0.
Ankeny will travel to Gilbert on Monday for a non-conference meet against the Tigers at Perfect Games.
