Blimpie Sub of the Week: Ian Ferree, Ankeny boys’ golf

Junior Ian Ferree is a member of the fourth-ranked Ankeny boys’ golf team.

Ferree shot a 44 on Sept. 16 to help Ankeny to a 167-173 victory over Ankeny Centennial at Briarwood Golf Club. The Hawks went on to capture the CIML Central Conference dual-meet title with a 5-0 record.

“Ian really helped us with our dual win over Centennial,” said Ankeny coach Mike Weddingfeld. “He stepped in on short notice when Hunter (Johnson) was sick and shot a score that counted that day toward the win.”

The Hawks tied for fourth place in a Class 4A district meet on Tuesday at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City.
