It was a night of sweeps in the CIML Iowa Conference as all six baseball and softball doubleheaders resulted in sweeps on Monday.
The fifth-ranked Ankeny baseball team extended its winning streak to eight games with a pair of lopsided wins over visiting Marshalltown. The Hawks posted an 11-0 victory in five innings, then completed the sweep with a 15-0 triumph in four innings.
Ankeny remained unbeaten in the conference at 8-0 and continues to hold a two-game lead over Mason City, which swept a twinbill against Fort Dodge and now boasts an eight-game winning streak as well. Ankeny Centennial won both games of a doubleheader at Ames, 5-0 and 10-1, and moved into third place ahead of the Dodgers.
The No. 2 Fort Dodge softball team swept a doubleheader at Mason City to stretch its winning streak to nine games. The Dodgers are now 7-1 in the league and maintained a one-game lead over No. 11 Ankeny Centennial, which swept a twinbill at Ames by scores of 6-4 in 10 innings and 5-4.
No. 13 Ankeny rolled to a sweep over visiting Marshalltown, 7-1 and 7-0, and moved into third place ahead of the Little Cyclones.
