For the second day in a row, the Ankeny Centennial boys’ tennis team dropped five of the six singles matches to a CIML Conference opponent and was unable to overcome the deficit.
On Tuesday, the Jaguars went on to lose all five doubles matches and dropped a 10-1 decision at Johnston. The Dragons improved to 2-3 in the conference, while Centennial’s records are now 1-3 and 1-4.
The Jaguars’ lone victory came at No. 4 singles, where Andrew Law posted a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (4) win over Owen Huneke. Three other matches went to a third-set supertiebreaker, but Johnston won all of them.
Centennial will play Ankeny (0-5) on Thursday at the Prairie Ridge courts. Jaguars coach Tami Lewton, who is battling cancer, will be honored before the meet.
