Ankeny senior Kaylyn Miller has verbally committed to play softball at Coe College.
Miller announced her decision via social media on Tuesday.
“I am so excited to announce my academic and athletic commitment to Coe College!!” Miller tweeted on X. “I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible, especially all of my coaches. I am so grateful for everything everyone has done for me. Thank you to my parents for all of the support you’ve given me and time you’ve spent helping me. Also a thank you to my sister, without you I never would have found my love for the game. Can’t wait to see what the future holds, go Kohawks!!”
Miller, an infielder, batted .188 with three home runs, six doubles and 12 RBIs last season while helping Ankeny to a 22-22 record and a fourth-place finish in the Class 5A state tournament. She also made six appearances in the pitcher’s circle, going 0-1 with a 7.74 ERA.
Miller earned all-conference honorable mention.
Miller and her sister, Larissa, were teammates on the 2023 Ankeny squad that also qualified for the state tournament. After graduating, Larissa started her collegiate career at Indian Hills Community College before transferring to Central College.
Central and Coe are both members of the American Rivers Conference, which means that the two sisters could eventually play against each other.
“So proud of my little sis!” Larissa tweeted on Tuesday. “Can’t wait to watch you do great things! I love you kk, Coe’s getting a good one.”
