Ankeny boys’ basketball standout Rio Aguirre has been named to the Class 4A all-state second team by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association and the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
Aguirre, a junior guard, led the Hawks to a 10-12 record this season. He was earlier a unanimous pick to the CIML Conference first team.
Aguirre averaged a team-high 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He was the only player in Class 4A to average 20, 5 and 5 in those three categories.

Trevin Jirak of Valley was named Mr. Iowa Basketball 2025 after leading the Tigers to a third consecutive Class 4A championship. The Northern Iowa recruit had three double-doubles at the state tournament, racking up 48 points and 34 rebounds in three games.
Jirak was joined on the Class 4A all-state first team by teammate Jayden McGregory, who was the captain of the Class 4A all-tournament team. Bode Goodman and Peyton McCollum of Class 4A runner-up Waukee Northwest were also first-team picks along with Evan Jacobson of Waukee.
