The Ankeny boys’ soccer team evened its overall record at 2-2 by recording a pair of non-conference victories in a span of 24 hours.
The Hawks got a late goal from Andrew Loder to beat visiting Davenport North, 2-1, on Friday. Loder scored off a pass from Landon Benge with less than 2 minutes left.
The win followed Ankeny’s 4-1 triumph at Indianola on Thursday.
“Obviously, we are happy to end the week with two wins,” said Ankeny coach Trevor Fuccio. “Both were very different games style-wise, but we had good moments in both games.”

Benge put the Hawks ahead in Friday’s game with a goal just 40 seconds into the first half. It was his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
North tied it at 1-1 on a free kick with 8 minutes remaining. Yousif Alallaf scored the equalizer for the Wildcats.
That set the stage for the late heroics from Loder, who found the net for the second time this season. It was the first loss for North, which fell to 2-1.

One night earlier, the Hawks used a big second half to earn their first win at Indianola. The loss dropped the Indians’ record to 1-3.
The game was tied 1-1 at halftime before Ankeny erupted for three goals in the final 40 minutes. Benge had two goals and an assist to lead the way.
Keaton Kobow contributed a goal and an assist, while Cal Wahlberg recorded a pair of assists. Loder had the Hawks’ other goal.

“I was happy to get Loder on the score sheet in both games,” Fuccio said.
Ankeny goalkeeper Jackson Dockendorff finished with four saves. Indianola’s lone goal was scored by Anson Miller, who was assisted by Allan Martinez.
The Hawks will face Ankeny Centennial (3-2) on Monday in the annual Ankeny Derby at Ankeny Stadium. The game will start at 7:30 p.m., following the girls’ contest.
