
The pairings for next week’s boys’ and girls’ state tennis tournaments have been announced.
Ankeny’s Kira Smith is the No. 1 seed for the girls’ Class 2A singles tournament, which will be held on Friday and Saturday at Iowa City. She will face Addison King of Cedar Falls in the opening round.

Smith could potentially meet Ankeny Centennial’s Samara Peterson in the quarterfinals. Peterson will play Victoria Bakros of Dowling Catholic in the first round.
The other top seeds are No. 2 Sescie Haan of Clinton, No. 3 Madelyn Jepsen of North Scott and No. 4 Lily Holland of Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

Ankeny’s Dylan Victor and Garrett Weichers will compete in the boys’ Class 2A doubles tournament, which is slated for Tuesday and Wednesday at Iowa City. They will face Brock Davis and Preston Haefner of Cedar Rapids Washington in the opening round.
The winner of that match will play Drew Fenton and Vincent Flynn of Waukee Northwest or Anthony Medina and Derek Hua of Iowa City West in the quarterfinals. Medina and Hua are seeded fourth.
The other top seeds are No. 1 Alex Mirsky and Seppe Frantianni of Valley, No. 2 Karthik Ganesh and Jatin Kodavatiganti of Pleasant Valley, and No. 3 Vivek Kothari and Maarten Beekhuis of Northwest.
