Kori Lincicum started two of the first three games in the pitcher’s circle for the Ankeny Centennial softball team.
Friday’s non-conference doubleheader against visiting Des Moines Lincoln showed that the second-ranked Jaguars have plenty of pitching depth behind Lincicum.
Three other hurlers combined on a pair of no-hitters as Centennial swept the Railsplitters by scores of 11-0 and 12-0. Both games ended after four innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Freshman Peyten Spiegel (1-0) went the distance in the second game. She walked one and had seven strikeouts.
In the opener, senior Aubrey Scieszinski (2-0) pitched three perfect innings while recording seven strikeouts. Junior Ashley Sterling then had two more strikeouts while giving up a walk in her one inning of work.
The Jaguars (4-1) got their bats going right away, scoring eight runs in the first inning. Lincicum went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, while Ava Faber and Scieszinski also had two RBIs apiece.
Jordyn Kennedy went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run, her second of the season. Camden Starr added a double and an RBI.
In the nightcap, Centennial erupted for 10 runs in the third inning. Faber went 2-for-2 with a double, scored three runs and knocked in three more.
Freshman Gracie Anderson went 3-for-3 and also scored three times. Kennedy went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
Delaney Wyble doubled and drove in two runs. Emersyn Ott also had a double, and Mady Ott added an RBI.
Lincoln dropped to 0-6 on the season.
The Jaguars will play a CIML Conference game at No. 7 Ankeny (2-1) on Monday.
