
The Ankeny softball team dropped a pair of games to Class 4A ranked opponents at the Dallas Center-Grimes Invitational on Thursday.
The Hawkettes suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 4 ADM, then fell to No. 7 North Polk, 12-0, in four innings. They are now 11-25 on the season.
ADM (24-6) scored a run in each of the first three innings. Lauren Hagedorn doubled, walked twice and scored a pair of runs.
Hagedorn also combined with two other pitchers on a four-hitter.
North Polk (29-5) took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Comets then added six runs in the second and three more in the fourth.
Ankeny has lost five straight games and 15 of its last 18 after getting off to an 8-10 start. The Hawkettes have been held scoreless in eight of their last 15 losses.
Ankeny will host a CIML Conference doubleheader against No. 4 Valley (12-10, 25-10) on Monday. The Hawkettes dropped a 4-0 decision at Valley on June 16.
