The Ankeny Centennial baseball team stepped out of CIML Conference play on Saturday and swept a non-conference doubleheader at Sioux City North.

The ninth-ranked Jaguars posted an 8-4 victory in the first game, then completed the sweep with a 13-3 win. They improved to 21-11 on the season, while North’s record fell to 27-11.

Centennial used a five-run fourth inning to build an 8-1 lead in the nightcap. The Jaguars pounded out 11 hits off four North pitchers in support of Colton Arndt (3-2), who allowed three earned runs on three hits and had five strikeouts over the first 5 1/3 innings.

Will Morris went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the rout. Cade Newman also went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Jackson Reed went 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI. Will Nesler also doubled and knocked in two runs.

In the opener, Centennial scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to take a 5-4 lead. The Jaguars then added three runs in the seventh to snap a brief two-game losing skid.

Morris went 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBIs. It was his second home run of the season.

Reed also homered and knocked in three runs. It was his team-leading third blast of the year.

Newman went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Reed Anderson also doubled and drove in a run.

Logan Wildebour (1-0) earned the win in relief of TJ Hood. He allowed just two hits over 2 2/3 scoreless innings.

Aiden Timmons went the distance for the Stars, who had won 10 of their previous 11 games.

Centennial will play a conference doubleheader on Monday at Urbandale (3-18, 11-21). The Jaguars posted a 7-2 win over Urbandale on June 24.
