
Former Ankeny softball standout Kendra Lewis has committed to play for James Madison University.
Lewis, a third baseman and shortstop, is coming off a breakout season at Morehead State, where she earned all-OVC second-team honors as a sophomore. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Lewis entered the transfer portal after starting all 49 games for Morehead State in 2025. She batted .351 with nine home runs, 10 doubles and 31 RBIs.
Lewis placed in the top 10 in the OVC in batting average (10th), slugging (third), on-base percentage (third), runs scored (fifth), home runs (fifth) and walks (second).
As a senior at Ankeny in 2023, Lewis helped the Hawkettes to a 31-8 record and a tie for seventh place in Class 5A. She was named to the CIML Conference third team after batting .396 with one homer and 23 RBIs while leading the team with 13 doubles.
