
The Ankeny Centennial girls’ tennis team has played a gauntlet of tough opponents in the CIML Conference this season.
On Tuesday, the Jaguars played the best of them all.
Centennial traveled to Valley to face the undefeated Tigers and dropped an 11-0 decision. Valley swept all 11 of the matches in straight sets.
The Tigers improved to 5-0 in the league and 10-0 overall. They have lost no more than two matches in nine of their 10 wins.
It was the fourth straight loss for the Jaguars, whose records dropped to 1-5 and 3-6.
Tuesday’s meet featured a matchup of returning state qualifiers at No. 1 singles. Valley’s Sophie Tannenbaum outlasted Samara Peterson, 6-4, 6-4, in a close match.
Centennial will host North Polk (2-4) in a non-conference meet on Thursday.
