
The Ankeny girls’ tennis team ran into another tough opponent on Tuesday.
The Hawkettes dropped an 11-0 decision to visiting Dowling Catholic in a CIML Conference match. The Maroons improved to 4-1 in the league and 6-2 overall, while Ankeny’s records dropped to 1-5 and 2-7.
Dowling won all 11 matches in straight sets, including a dominant performance in singles, where the Maroons lost a total of just nine games.
The Hawkettes were more competitive in doubles, winning a total of 25 games. The best match of the day came at the No. 1 position, where Ankeny’s Olivia North and Izzie Doyle fell to Berkley Johnson and Mady Pierron, 7-5, 7-5.
The Hawkettes will host a non-conference meet against Waterloo Columbus (5-1) on Thursday.
