Winning for the third time in its last four meets, the Ankeny Centennial girls’ tennis team rolled to a 10-1 victory over visiting Southeast Polk on Thursday.
All 10 of the Jaguars’ wins came in straight sets. They lost a total of just 20 games in those matches.
Southeast Polk’s lone victory came at No. 5 doubles.
“It was great to close out our regular season with a strong win,” said Centennial coach Alli Gustafson. “It was so fun to see our hard work pay off with everyone from varsity to JV putting into play the skills we’ve been focusing on in practice. This season has been filled with a great group of athletes who consistently put the team first, and I couldn’t be prouder of their growth and determination. Now, we’re excited to carry this momentum into the postseason!”
Centennial finished 2-6 in the CIML Conference and improved to 6-7 overall. The Rams’ records dropped to 0-8 and 2-12.
The Jaguars will compete in a Class 2A regional singles and doubles tournament on Wednesday at Cedar Falls.
