Hawkettes close out inaugural fall regular season with 11-0 loss to Urbandale girls

The Ankeny girls’ tennis team closed out the regular season on Thursday with an 11-0 loss at Urbandale.

The J-Hawks swept all 11 matches in straight sets. They finished 4-4 in the CIML Conference and improved to 9-4 overall.

Ankeny suffered its third road loss in four days after losing at Waukee Northwest on Monday and at Ottumwa on Tuesday. The Hawkettes’ records fell to 1-7 in the league and 2-11 overall.

Ankeny will head back to Waukee Northwest on Wednesday for a Class 2A regional singles and doubles tournament.

Urbandale 11, Ankeny 0

Singles: Pederson beat North, 6-1, 6-3; Venteicher beat Quirk, 7-6 (9), 6-1; Kazazic beat Doyle, 6-0, 6-1; Thielman beat Vlad, 6-2, 6-1; White beat Dietrich, 6-1, 6-1; Negley beat Hutchinson, 6-0, 6-2.

Doubles: Pederson-Thielman beat Quirk-Doyle, 6-2, 6-1; Venteicher-Kazazic beat North-Dietrich, 6-3, 6-2; White-Negley beat Vlad-Hutchinson, 6-1, 6-1; Spurgin-Darla beat Phillips-Swenson, 6-1, 6-0; Karajic-Davis beat Blume-Doubleday, 6-4, 6-1.
