Ankeny Centennial golfer McCoy Miller has committed to play next year for Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.
Miller said it wasn’t a difficult decision.
“I reached out to some schools and had a couple reach out to me, but had a good visit with coach (Kris) Graewin and went on a visit to Iowa Central and it just felt like the right fit for me,” said Miller.
Miller posted a 73.4 scoring average as a senior, the lowest by any Jaguar dating back to at least 2018, according to Centennial coach Andrew Reedy. He had seven rounds of 71 or better.
Miller qualified for last month’s Class 4A state meet as an individual and tied for 58th place at Hyperion Field Club in Johnston. He shot an 80 in the final round to post a 36-hole total of 163.
As a junior, Miller helped the Jaguars to a ninth-place finish in Class 4A. He tied for 27th place with a 157 total.
Miller is looking forward to competing at the next level.
“Iowa Central has a great campus, academic resources, coaches, and a new indoor golf facility that I feel can help me continue to improve as a student athlete, golfer, and a person,” he said. “I can’t wait to get up there and help the team in any way that is needed.”
