Brooklyn Dietz tied her career-high with a 326 series, but it wasn’t enough as the Ankeny girls’ bowling team opened its season on Thursday with a loss to Waukee in a CIML Conference dual meet at B-Roll Bowling.
The Warriors won the meet by a score of 2,304 to 1,938.
“I was pleased with how we bowled for our first meet,” said Ankeny coach Adam Booth. “Brooklyn had a really nice series.”
Dietz bowled a high game of 180. She matched her series of 326 that she set in a win over Greene County at Spare Times Lanes & Lounge last year.
Ankeny’s Olivia Harris finished with a 293 total. Kylie Morgan bowled a 245, Ava Johnson had a 220, Willow Zeman rolled a 212, and Piper Zeman added a 207.
“Piper and Kylie bowled at their first (varsity) meet and did a nice job,” Booth said. “Olivia has had about a week of practice coming off an injury. She started a bit slow in the first game, but battled back and put together a solid second game. Overall, we were pleased with the first outing.”
Waukee had three bowlers post series scores of 318 or better. Katie Derdowski led the way with a 344.
Ankeny will be back in action on Dec. 4 when it hosts another conference meet against Urbandale. It will be the season opener for the Ankeny boys’ squad.
