Ankeny defensive back La’Marious Clark has been named to the Class 5A all-state first team for the second year in a row by the Iowa Football Coaches Association.
Clark, a senior, was joined on the first team by Ankeny running back Daniel Larmie. Larmie, a senior, was a second-team pick last year.
Two Ankeny Centennial seniors also earned first-team honors. They are senior running back JJ Morgan and senior punter Austin McIntire.

Ankeny linebacker Dawson Whitinger, a junior, was a repeat pick to the Class 5A second team. He was joined on that squad by Centennial’s Braylin Dieken-Keahey, a senior offensive lineman.
Clark, a Northern Iowa recruit, helped the Hawks to a 7-3 record. He made 30.5 tackles while leading Class 5A with five interceptions, including one that he turned into a pick six.
Larmie rushed for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns on 221 carries. He was the fourth-leading rusher in Class 5A.

Morgan ran for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns on just 118 carries. He led Class 5A with an average of 10.4 yards per carry while running behind an offensive line that was anchored by Dieken-Keahey.
Whitinger placed second among the Hawks with 51 tackles. He had 12 tackles for losses and four sacks.
McIntire helped the Jaguars to a 5-5 record. He averaged 39.0 yards on 24 punts.
