The Ankeny girls’ wrestling team sits in fifth place with 236 points heading into the final day of the Dan Gable Donnybrook on Friday at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
Defending champion Raccoon River-Northwest leads the 47-team field with 338 points. Cedar Rapids Prairie is second with 270.
Ankeny’s Lauren Watson at 110 pounds and Jammie Krah at 140 both reached the semifinals on Thursday before losing decisions to undefeated opponents. They will both wrestle for third place on Friday.
Zoe Sullivan at 105, Karlie Kruse at 125 and Aliayah Shade at 170 each won a pair of matches on Thursday before falling in the quarterfinals. They could each place as high as fifth on Friday.
