The fourth-ranked Ankeny girls’ wrestling team has never lost to an opponent at the Ankeny Centennial Duals.
Coach Dustin Roland’s squad remained perfect on Saturday at Northview Middle School, where Ankeny went 5-0 on the day to capture the title for the fourth consecutive year. The team is now 18-0 in the history of the event.
Ankeny closed out the tournament with a 50-26 victory over No. 3 Mason City. The team routed No. 8 Indianola, 78-6, and also posted wins over West Marshall (66-18), Des Moines Public Schools (78-6) and Pella (48-28).
“We had a couple good duals against Pella and Mason City, who jumped above us in the latest tournament rankings,” said Roland, whose squad raised its record to 9-2 on the season. “The Pella kids were tough and well coached. Mason City was short a couple starters and should be in the mix come the postseason.”

Six Ankeny wrestlers finished 5-0 on the day. Aliayah Shade, who is ranked 12th at 170 pounds, recorded four falls and won her other match by medical forfeit.
“Aliayah had a great day,” Roland said.
Tenth-ranked Trudy Haag at 125, No. 6 Jammie Krah at 145 and Aysia Moser at 235 also went 5-0 with four falls and a forfeit. No. 4 Karlie Kruse at 130 went 5-0 with a pair of falls.

“Jammie and Trudy continue to be consistent for us. Trudy will be moving down to 120 this week,” Roland said. “Karlie also wrestled well, and she’ll be back down to 125 this week.”
Krah had the fastest pin of the day, needing just 8 seconds to flatten Grace Greenwood of West Marshall. She later pinned Emily Janssen of Mason City in 17 seconds.
Moser was equally impressive. Her four falls came in a combined 2:23, and three of them took less than 30 seconds.

“Aysia has also been solid,” Roland said. “She owns one of the best records on the team.”
Zoe Sullivan also went 5-0 for Ankeny at 105. She won all of her matches by forfeit, but most of the other wrestlers in the lineup had multiple matches on the day.
“It was a great day to get a lot of girls some more varsity experience,” Roland said. “Jocelyn Rohde won a couple matches today and has been a nice addition at 190 for us.”
Ankeny will face DMPS again on Tuesday when it hosts a double dual meet at Northview, beginning at 6 p.m. North Polk will also compete.
