Former Iowa State assistant football coach Xavier Quigley is headed to Happy Valley to join Matt Campbell’s staff at Penn State.
Quigley, a former Ankeny standout, was a part of the Cyclones’ staff in Ames for the last six seasons. He was the director of college scouting/offense in 2025.
“I’m not sure exactly what the new title will be,” Quigley wrote in a text message to Ankeny Fanatic on Sunday. “But (it will be) in that same realm.”
Quigley has been a part of four bowl qualifying teams, including the 2024 Cyclone team that defeated No. 15 Miami in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. He previously served two seasons as assistant director of player personnel and was a graduate assistant for the ISU offense from 2020-21.
Quigley was a third-team all-state offensive lineman at Ankeny, where he helped the Hawks to a 14-0 record and the Class 4A state title in 2012. He went on to play for Iowa Western Community College, where he earned all-conference honors in 2014 on a squad that went 11-1 and reached the NJCAA national championship game.
Quigley then transferred to Akron, where he was a two-year letterman on the offensive line and played in 24 games–including two starts–from 2016-17. He later served as a graduate assistant for the Zips in 2019.
In 2023, Quigley was named to the second team of Ankeny Fanatic’s all-time Ankeny football team.
