
All-state running back Daniel Larmie of Ankeny didn’t let his recruiting battle drag on for very long once the calendar turned to 2026.
The senior announced his future plans via social media on New Year’s Day, when he verbally committed to play football at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs.
“10000% committed!!!” Larmie tweeted. “Journey continues.”
Larmie rushed for 3,547 yards and 31 touchdowns on 611 carries in his high school career. He also caught 36 passes for 287 yards and two more scores.
As a senior, Larmie rushed for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns while helping the Hawks to a 7-3 record. He was the fourth-leading rusher in Class 5A.
Larmie was named to the Class 5A all-state first team by the Iowa Football Coaches Association. He was selected to the all-district first team for the third consecutive year.
Larmie rushed for 1,208 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior, when he earned all-state second-team honors. He ran for 1,000 yards and seven scores in 2023.
