The Ankeny boys’ bowling team was not at full strength for Thursday’s dual meet against Valley at Warrior Lanes.
“We’re fighting some illness and had some starters out,” said Ankeny coach Adam Booth.
With a depleted lineup, Ankeny lost to the Tigers by a score of 2,731 to 2,261. The Hawks’ records dropped to 1-3 in the CIML Conference and 1-4 overall.
Valley also won the girls’ meet by a score of 2,352 to 1,984. Ankeny’s records fell to 0-5 and 0-6.
“We struggled with our consistency and focus,” Booth said.
Olivia Harris and Piper Zeman each bowled a 289 series to lead the Hawkettes. Brooklyn Dietz had a 277, Kylie Morgan rolled a 270, Ava Johnson had a 216, and Willow Zeman added a 203.
Olivia Welch bowled a 380 series for the Tigers, who raised their records to 3-1 and 3-3. The Valley boys, meanwhile, improved to 2-2 and 3-3.
Individual scores for the boys’ meet have yet to be posted.
Both Ankeny teams will host a non-conference meet against Des Moines East on Tuesday at B-Roll Bowling.
“We just need to regroup and move on to the next meet,” Booth said.
