
The Ankeny Centennial girls’ basketball team moved into the Class 5A rankings for the first time this season following the Jaguars’ 65-62 victory on Tuesday at then-No. 3 Ankeny.
Centennial is now ranked 14th by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union, while Ankeny dropped two spots to No. 5. The CIML Conference continues to boast the top five teams in Class 5A.
Waukee Northwest moved up three spots to No. 2 after posting a 43-40 win over Dowling Catholic on Tuesday. The Wolves and Maroons are now tied for second place in the league at 6-2, trailing No. 1 Johnston by 2 1/2 games.
On the boys’ side, No. 2 Waukee Northwest rolled to a 72-52 win over No. 3 Dowling to take a 1 1/2-game lead over the previously unbeaten Maroons. Nebraska commit Colin Rice poured in 34 points for the Wolves.
