
The Ankeny girls’ bowling team posted a season-high score on Thursday during its dual meet against Southeast Polk at Great Escape.
Ankeny lost by a score of 2,253 to 2,062, but it marked the first time in nine meets this season that the team surpassed the 2,000-pin mark. Its previous high was a total of 1,988 in a meet against Dowling Catholic on Dec. 11 at Val Lanes.
The Rams also won the boys’ meet by a score of 3,284 to 2,502. Ankeny eclipsed a total of 2,500 for the second straight meet and the fourth time this season.
Brooklyn Dietz bowled a 320 series to lead the Ankeny girls’ team, which dropped to 0-6 in the CIML Conference and 1-8 overall. She had a high game of 170.
Kylie Morgan rolled a career-best 305 series. Olivia Harris had a 284, Ava Johnson bowled a 238, Piper Zeman had a 226, and Sophia Kephart added a 207.
Southeast Polk’s Abigail Huitt bowled back-to-back games of 180 and 179 for a 359 series. The Rams are now 4-2 in the league and 4-3 overall.

Preston Carr bowled a career-high 432 series for the Ankeny boys’ squad, whose records are now 1-4 and 3-6. He had a high game of 224.
Hayden Millard rolled a 345. Roscoe Wagner had a 339, George Inman rolled a 322, Clayton Jamison had a 311, and Nolan Larson added a 252.
Tyler Simpson bowled a 280 game en route to a 511 series to lead Southeast Polk. The Rams raised their records to 3-2 and 3-3.
The Ankeny girls’ team will return to Great Escape on Tuesday for the CIML Conference meet. The boys’ squad will host a conference dual meet against unbeaten Waukee (8-0) on Thursday at B-Roll Bowling.
