Ankeny Centennial linebacker Nash Targgart has verbally committed to play football at Wartburg College next year.
Targgart said he reached out to various schools all over the Midwest in an effort to continue his career on the gridiron.
“Wartburg was the only one that I heard back from,” said Targgart. “I felt like at Wartburg I loved the staff and the school with it being my best opportunity to make an impact and play in the first year. It lets me have that opportunity to compete with others who are there to play ball.”
After missing his junior season due to an injury, Targgart returned to Centennial’s lineup as a senior and helped the Jaguars to a 5-5 record. He placed fourth on the team with 49 tackles, including 25 solo stops.
Targgart also saw some action in the backfield, rushing for 91 yards on 11 carries. He was named to the all-district first team at a utility position on defense.
