Ankeny pitcher Hunter Minner has verbally committed to play for Indiana State.
A recruiting trip to Terre Haute sold Minner on the Sycamores.
“I went on a visit to Indiana State and got to see the campus facilities and meet the coaches, and it was a great opportunity,” said Minner. “Overall, what I was impressed with was the coaches and the atmosphere. The coaches did a phenomenal job of knowing when to laugh with the guys and when it was time to focus on getting better. It was really just a place that I saw myself fitting in well based on the coaches, players and level of play.
“It was about all I thought about for a week straight, but when I came to a decision I knew it was a decision I felt comfortable making,” he added.
Minner, a junior, helped the Hawks to a 14-25 record last season. He made nine appearances on the mound, including three starts.
Minner went 1-3 with one save and a 10.27 ERA. He recorded 21 strikeouts in 15 innings of work.
As a freshman, Minner made 10 appearances for the Hawks. He went 0-3 with a 5.12 ERA.
