
Several more football players from Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial have signed letters of intent to play at the next level.
Centennial’s Kade Muehring and Carter Schutty are headed to Wartburg College along with teammate Nash Targgart. Houston Luce and Gavin Matheny have signed with Grand View, Kane Brooks has committed to Minnesota State, and Cameron Meiners is headed to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Ankeny’s Zach Breitbach has signed with Central College. Teammate Owen Fischer is headed to Upper Iowa.
Meiners, a wide receiver, helped the Jaguars to a 5-5 record. He had 16 receptions for 482 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 30.1 yards per catch.

Meiners was named to the all-district first team along with Luce, Matheny and Targgart.
Matheny, a defensive back, placed second on the squad with 52 tackles. He had a team-high 27 solo stops.
Luce, who was a second-team pick as a junior, recorded 26.5 tackles. He recovered a team-high two fumbles.
Brooks, an offensive lineman, was selected to the all-district second team. He helped pave the way for Centennial running back JJ Morgan to become one of the state’s leading rushers.
Schutty, an offensive lineman, and Muehring, a defensive lineman, earned all-district honorable mention. Muehring made 21.5 tackles, including a pair of sacks.

Fischer, a wide receiver, helped the Hawks to a 7-3 mark. He was named to the all-district first team as a kick returner.
Fischer averaged nearly 30 yards on 12 kickoff returns and had a 97-yard return for a touchdown. He also had 33 catches for 384 yards and three scores.
Breitbach, an offensive lineman, earned all-district honorable mention each of the last two seasons. He was part of one of the state’s top offensive lines.
