Former Ankeny softball standout Kennedy Palmer is off to a good start in her first season at St. Cloud State.
The junior second baseman has helped the Huskies to a 9-1 record after transferring from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. She leads the team with a .480 batting average.
Palmer hit .471 last weekend, going 8-for-17 at the plate, as St. Cloud State went 5-1 in the Lewis Dome Invitational at Rosemont, Ill. She recorded multiple multi-hit games, including a three-hit performance in a 3-2 loss to Roosevelt (Ill.) in the tournament opener.

The Huskies rebounded from that loss with five consecutive victories, allowing just one run in four of those games. Palmer finished with a perfect fielding percentage in the tournament, recording eight putouts and seven assists.
At the plate, Palmer posted a .526 on-base percentage and a .588 slugging percentage. She recorded two doubles, two walks and two RBIs while scoring multiple runs in three games.
The Huskies will play in the Space Coast Spring Games this weekend at Titusville, Fla.
