The Ankeny girls’ tennis team evened its overall record at 2-2 with an 8-3 victory at Des Moines East in a non-conference meet on Tuesday.
The Hawkettes won five of the six singles matches, then added three more wins in doubles. The loss dropped the Scarlets to 1-2 on the season.
“It was a great night for our girls,” said Ankeny coach Katie Owens. “It was fun to get to play!”
Ankeny won a pair of third-set tiebreakers during singles play. The Hawkettes’ No. 4 doubles team of Lydia Blatt and Reilly Johnson also won a second-set tiebreaker to complete their victory.
“The girls are continuing to improve with each match,” Owens said. “It’s wonderful to see their growth as tennis players.”
