The Ankeny Centennial girls’ golf team defeated Ames on Tuesday, but perhaps more importantly, the CIML Central Conference dual meet provided the Jaguars with a chance to see Veenker Golf Course, where they will play in a Class 4A regional meet on May 21.
Second-ranked Centennial posted a 186-206 victory to improve its record to 4-0 in the conference. The Jaguars will play their league finale on Friday when they face No. 3 Waukee at Sugar Creek.
Centennial’s Tenley Moretti carded a 5-over-par 41 on the back nine to earn medalist honors for the fifth time this season. She bounced back from a double bogey on the par-4 No. 15 hole to par the last three holes.
Teammate Lauren Sease was the runner-up with a 45. Megan Lazear had a 48 for the Jaguars, Nikki Ault fired a 52, Emily Davis shot a 54, and Emma Stoelk finished with a 60.
Megan Riesselman had a 47 to lead the Little Cyclones.
