Both Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial will receive first-round byes in the upcoming Class 3A boys’ substate soccer tournaments. Neither the Hawks nor the Jaguars will have to leave Ankeny in order to qualify for the state tournament.
Ankeny is the No. 1 seed in Substate 1 and will host a semifinal game against Sioux City North or Sioux City West on May 23 at 6:30 p.m. Des Moines Roosevelt will play Fort Dodge or Sioux City East in the other semifinal at Cownie Park, with the winners to meet in the substate final on May 26 at noon at Ankeny.
Centennial is the No. 1 seed in Substate 6 and will host a semifinal game against Ames or Marshalltown on May 23 at 6:30 p.m. Des Moines Lincoln will play Indianola or Urbandale in the other semifinal at Cownie Park, with the winners to meet in the substate final on May 26 at noon at Centennial.
