More about Ankeny Fanatic’s future from Chris Williams, and how you can help

June 18, 2018 by Dan Holm

Dear Citizens of Ankeny,

According to the latest U.S. Census Report, Ankeny is now the fourth-fastest-growing city in America. Ankeny showed a 6.4 percent population growth over the last year and is now home to over 62,000 citizens!

Incredible.

Ankeny Fanatic wants to serve you, but we also need your help.

Most of you do not know me. My name is Chris Williams. I’m a Cyclone blogger/sports talker who is deeply passionate about media development.

You definitely know my business partners.

Ankeny Fanatic is the idea of local businessman Jason Loutsch, who has been entrenched in the community for decades. He graduated from Ankeny and has not only made it his home, but passion as well.

Dan Holm has reported on and told the stories of hundreds, if not thousands of former Ankeny athletes for decades as well.

We launched Ankeny Fanatic in January with the goal in mind to fill a major void: The fourth fastest growing city in America deserves its own publication!

However, launching a digital-only media company comes with a handful of financial challenges. There is a reason why virtually every form of media is struggling these days. Instead of going into detail about why media outlets are hurting, I want to focus on why the future of Ankeny Fanatic is bright.

Recent research suggests that the average American adult consumes digital media in some form for an average of 5.9 hours per day. Combine that trend with the passion for sports that the city of Ankeny has within it and we are confident that there is a need for our product in a city that continues to grow.

Our immediate goal is to exhaustively cover Ankeny athletics and promote young people in this town. Our five-year plan is to be Ankeny’s general publication. The goal is that we will eventually report on everything from city council meetings to feel-good stories around the community – and of course, athletics.

Ankeny should not be an afterthought. It deserves this.

But we really do need your help.

Dan has worked tirelessly since January promoting and reporting on Ankeny’s thriving young people. Have you enjoyed Ankeny Fanatic? If so, you can do three things to help.

1 – Do you own a business or know somebody who would be interested in supporting the site in the form of advertising?

2 – Donate to our Patreon page: It’s a simple way of you supporting content that you enjoy, appreciate and cannot find anywhere else. Patreon is secure and you can give whatever amount you want. For a start-up company like this one, every dollar counts. Here’s the link to sign up: https://www.patreon.com/bePatron?u=8751205&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fankenyfanatic.com%2F&utm_medium=widget

3 – Share our work on social media. The more people we get seeing the site, the faster we grow, the better our coverage is of the young people in this town.

Thank you for your time and please feel free to submit any questions that you might have about our plans for the future.

Sincerely,

Chris Williams
