Rick Fee doesn’t want his Ankeny Centennial boys’ golfers to make any excuses.
That was Fee’s message to the Jaguars after they lost to visiting Dowling Catholic, 169-170, in a dual meet on Tuesday at Briarwood Golf Course.
“The course was playing pretty tough,” Fee said. “It was pretty windy out there, but you can’t worry about anything but your golf game. We’re not going to make any excuses.”
Russell Rydin carded a 40 to lead Centennial. He tied for medalist honors with two Dowling golfers.
Kaleb Faas had a 42 for the Jaguars, while Eric Ossian and Brian Kolpek each shot a 44. Drake Ellgren fired a 46, and Chris McAleer finished with a 50.
The loss dropped Centennial’s record to 2-2 in the CIML Central Conference. The Jaguars’ other loss came to Johnston on Aug. 29, when a tiebreaker was needed to determine the outcome.
Centennial will travel across town to face Ankeny in a dual meet on Thursday at Otter Creek.
