More about Ankeny Fanatic’s future from Publisher Dan Holm

May 7, 2019 by Dan Holm

Dear Citizens of Ankeny,

Are you going to the Ankeny Derby at Ankeny Centennial on Tuesday night? If not, Ankeny Fanatic will be there to provide complete coverage of both the Jag-Hawk soccer games.

That is what we do.

When we launched Ankeny Fanatic in January of 2018, we did so to fill a void. We felt like the community of Ankeny, one of America’s fastest-growing cities, deserved its own publication.

In the 492 days that our site has existed, we have now published nearly 1,300 posts (stories, podcasts and videos)–or an average of more than 2.5 per day. Our mission was to become the go-to source for Ankeny and Centennial sports, and we feel like we’ve delivered on that promise.

If you are one of our devoted followers, then you know that all of our content is free. We hope that you’ve been enjoying it, and it’s clear from the feedback that we’ve received that many of you are.

However, launching a digital-only media company comes with numerous financial challenges. You don’t have to look very far to find a media outlet that is struggling these days. Ankeny Fanatic faces many of these same challenges, but we’re also optimistic that the future is bright.

We are confident that there is a need for our product in a city that continues to grow. While our immediate goal has been to provide blanket coverage of high school athletics and to promote the young athletes in this town, our long-term goal is to become Ankeny’s general publication. We eventually hope to report on everything from city council meetings to the local elections and more.

Ankeny deserves to have this, but we really do need your help. Have you enjoyed any of the content on Ankeny Fanatic? If so, you can help in one of three ways:

1 – Do you own a business or know somebody who would be interested in supporting the site in the form of advertising?

2 – Donate to our Patreon page: It’s a simple way of you supporting content that you enjoy, appreciate and cannot find anywhere else. Patreon is secure and you can give whatever amount you want. For a start-up company like this one, every dollar counts. Here’s the link to sign up: https://www.patreon.com/bePatron?u=8751205&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fankenyfanatic.com%2F&utm_medium=widget

3 – Share our work on social media. The more people we get seeing the site, the faster we grow, the better our coverage is of the young people in this town.

Thank you for your time and please feel free to hit me up with any questions that you might have about our plans for the future.

Sincerely,

Dan Holm
