Karson Wehde shot an 84 to help the Ankeny boys’ golf team to a 301-308 victory over Ankeny Centennial on Friday at Briarwood Golf Course.
The Hawks will take a 3-0 record in the CIML Iowa Conference into Wednesday’s dual meet against Fort Dodge at Otter Creek Golf Course.
“I am still looking for that person to fill our sixth spot on varsity, and Karson is right in the mix trying to fill that spot,” said Ankeny coach Mike Weddingfeld. “He is only a sophomore so does not have any varsity experience so there is a learning curve and getting the nerves worked out, but watching him practice and the few meets he has played in I really feel that he can help us as we get further into the season. He has a great swing and work ethic and is a great contributor to the team this year and years to come.”
