The Ankeny Centennial boys’ track team dominated the Cub Relays on Tuesday at Nevada.
The Jaguars won nine events and easily captured the team title of the Class A division with 446.5 points. Mason City was second in the eight-team field with 346.5.
“It was a great effort by all in not-so-great conditions,” said Centennial coach Nate Smith. “The distance crew performed well, showing depth and leadership on the track.”
Centennial placed first in four of the seven relay events, winning the 4×400, 4×800, shuttle hurdle and sprint medley. The Jaguars took second in the 4×100, 4×200 and distance medley relays.
Dominic Berry won the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.67 seconds. Teammate Easton Miller was the runner-up in 16.41.
Tommy Collins took the 400 in 51.84. Keegen Smith was second in 54.54.
The Jaguars also swept the top two places in the 3,200. Kade Christensen won the race in 10:59.19, while Tyler Schermerhorn was second in 11:01.72.
Ryan Bybee won the 800 in a time of 2:12.44. Christensen finished third in 2:13.28.
Centennial’s other victory came in the 200. Kobe Naber won that race in 23.94.
Nathan Wilde placed third in the 100 in 11.81. Including the relays, he scored a team-high 34.25 points on the night.
Ethan Hauschildt took third in the 400 hurdles. He was clocked in 1:01.24.
Jack Davis tied for second in the high jump. He cleared the bar at 5 feet 10 inches.
