Kendyl Lindaman is making the most of her extra season of collegiate eligibility.
The Florida softball star, who returned to the field this season as a graduate player after the 2020 campaign was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been named to the all-SEC second team as a utility/designated player. She was one of five Gators to be honored by the Southeastern Conference, which announced its annual awards on Tuesday.
“Congratulations to Hannah (Adams), Charla (Echols), Elizabeth (Hightower), Kendyl and Julia (Cottrill) on earning all-SEC accolades this season,” Florida coach Tim Walton said in a press release. “These athletes represent the entire program and the teamwork everyone has had to compete so hard over the entire season. Super proud of their ability to step up when their team needed them the most.”
Lindaman, a former star at both Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial, ranks among active NCAA career leaders in several categories. She is tied for second in games played (260), tied for fourth in home runs (68), fourth in RBIs (236) and second in walks (215).
Lindaman has a total of seven multi-hit games this season. She has nine multi-RBI games and a 26-game reached base safely streak.
Lindaman, who is a 2021 Senior CLASS Top 10 finalist, has scored the game-winning run four times this season. She also has four game-winning RBIs.
