Friday was another tough day to be on a golf course.
The Ankeny Centennial girls’ golf team made the best of it.
The Jaguars evened their record at 1-1 in the CIML Iowa Conference with a 188-217 victory over Fort Dodge in a dual meet at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
“It was a cold day up there,” said Ankeny coach John Petersen. “I was proud of our girls as they don’t complain and are always positive about the conditions. The girls battled through a tight course and scored a 188. Once again, they felt good about the victory but they continue to believe we will shoot lower.”
Centennial’s Payton Drefke carded an 8-over-par 43 to earn medalist honors for the second time in her career. She was also the medalist in last year’s win over the Dodgers.
Vivian Wilson was the runner-up with a 48. Kaitlyn Ault also shot a 48, but lost a cardoff to Wilson for second place.
Grace Miller shot a 49 for the Jaguars. Delaney Miller had a 53, and Olivia Joensen added a 54.
Centennial will face Ankeny in an Iowa Conference dual meet on Tuesday at Otter Creek.
