Bouncing back from a tough loss on Monday, the Ankeny girls’ tennis team cruised to a 10-1 victory at Des Moines Roosevelt in a non-conference meet on Tuesday.
The ninth-ranked Hawkettes improved to 4-2 on the season. Roosevelt’s record dropped to 3-2.
Ankeny had lost at No. 5 Johnston, 10-1, 24 hours earlier.
All 10 of the team’s wins came in straight sets. The Hawkettes won five of the six singles matches, then swept the five doubles contests.
Roosevelt’s lone victory came at No. 2 singles, where Lydia Smith posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Anna Schmitz.
The Hawkettes will host a pair of CIML Iowa Conference opponents on Thursday. They will face Waukee Northwest (4-1) at noon and Marshalltown (2-3) at 4 p.m.
