After dropping a 9-2 decision to visiting Ames on Tuesday, the Ankeny boys’ tennis team will face another tough test on Wednesday.
The Hawks will host seventh-ranked Mason City in another CIML Iowa Conference dual meet that was moved up from Thursday due to a forecast of rain. Mason City (3-2, 5-3) is coming off an 8-3 win over Ankeny Centennial on its home courts Tuesday.
Ames won five of the six singles matches against Ankeny. The Hawks’ lone victory came at the No. 2 spot, where Dylan Victor posted a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Derek Peng.
Ankeny also won at No. 5 doubles, where the duo of Colin and Drew Lueck defeated Logan Ostrem and Caleb Vis, 7-6 (4), 7-5.
The Little Cyclones improved to 3-2 in the league and 5-3 overall. Ankeny’s records dropped to 1-4 and 1-7.
