Ankeny senior Kennedy Palmer has verbally committed to play softball at Iowa Central Community College.
Palmer said the junior college route was the best way for her to go to reach her goals.
“Playing for two years and then hopefully being able to go to a bigger school is a goal of mine which is why I thought this would be a good fit for me,” said Palmer.
Palmer, an infielder, helped the Hawkettes to a 27-13 record last season. She was named to the CIML Iowa Conference second team.
Palmer started all 40 games and batted .386 with two triples, seven doubles and 23 RBIs.
“I think the main thing that drew me to Iowa Central was the atmosphere overall,” Palmer said. “I stepped onto campus and it immediately felt like a home. The coaches also helped me feel so welcome, and I can tell they all really want to help me reach my goal. I also think Iowa Central has a very competitive program, and I know I’ll really be able to showcase my skills at this school!”
