Crawford, Pratt, Williams named all-state by Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association

Ankeny Centennial girls’ basketball standout Mya Crawford has been named to the Class 5A all-state first team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association, while teammate Jaeden Pratt and Jayla Williams of Ankeny were both selected to the second team.

Crawford, a junior guard, led the Jaguars to a 14-9 record and a trip to the state tournament. She set a school record this season with 75 steals and tied another mark with 352 points.

Crawford led her team in scoring (15.3), rebounding (7.3), assists (3.0) and steals (3.3). She also made a team-high 104 free throws.

Pratt, a junior forward, averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 rebounds while leading her team with 19 blocks. She owns the school record with 462 career rebounds.

Williams, a sophomore guard, led the Hawkettes to a 13-10 mark. She averaged 13.6 points while leading her team in rebounding (5.6), steals (3.0) and blocks (1.0).

Williams set a school record for most steals in a game with eight. She tied another single-game mark with 32 points.

Pratt was a repeat pick to the Class 5A West all-district team by the IGCA. She was joined on the squad by Crawford and Williams.

All-conference teams

Crawford and Williams were also named to the CIML Conference first team by a vote of the league’s coaches. Crawford was one of only two unanimous picks along with Johnston forward Aili Tanke.

Pratt was selected to the second team along with junior guard Savannah Gage of Ankeny. Gage averaged a team-high 14.5 points while shooting 82.8 percent at the free-throw line (53-of-64).

Senior guard Karsen Jacks of Ankeny was a third-team pick. She averaged 9.8 points and a team-high 4.3 assists.

Sophomore guard Ainsley Kiene of Ankeny earned all-conference honorable mention along with a trio of junior guards from Centennial–Finley Blackmore, Ava Martin and Tillie Smith.

Class 5A state champion Johnston placed four players on the first team. Tanke was joined on the squad by teammates Amani Jenkins, Jenica Lewis and Aaliyah Riley.

Ava Zediker of Dowling Catholic and Emily Sorensen of Waukee were the other first-team picks.
