Hayes Gibson is looking for a new home.
The former Ankeny Centennial quarterback announced this week on social media that he will be transferring.
“I have entered my name into the transfer portal as a graduate transfer,” Gibson tweeted on X Wednesday. “Thank you Tennessee Tech!”
Gibson played in four games last season at Tennessee Tech, an NCAA Division I FCS program. The Golden Eagles went 4-7, including 2-4 in the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference.
Gibson completed 21-of-46 passes for 247 yards. He went 9-of-18 for 133 yards in a 20-7 loss to North Alabama on Sept. 16.
As a senior at Centennial in 2019, Gibson passed for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns while also rushing for 186 yards and four more scores. He helped the Jaguars to an 8-2 record.
Gibson, the son of Iowa State Hall of Fame linebacker Dennis Gibson, then joined the Cyclones’ program as a preferred walk-on. He redshirted his initial season before transferring to Blinn Junior College (Texas), then moved on to Tennessee Tech with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The 6-foot-3, 199-pound junior will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
