Aided by four first-place finishes, the Ankeny Centennial boys’ track squad earned runner-up honors among eight teams in the ADM Tiger Invitational on Thursday at Adel.
The host Tigers won the meet with 194 points. Centennial finished with 113.5 points.
Lawson Langford and Max Snyder each ran on a pair of winning relays. They teamed up with Braeden Jackson and Cohen Moll to win the distance medley relay in a time of 3:37.95, and they combined with Zech Howe and Jackson Reed to capture the 4×400 relay in 3:29.93.
Robert McGhee took the 100 for the Jaguars in 11.52 seconds. Kyler Jones won the 400 in 53.57.
Jack Behrens placed second in the 3,200 in a time of 10:33.44. Davis Johnson finished third in the 1,600 in 4:55.12.
Cole Pieper placed third in the 110 hurdles in 17.22 seconds. He also ran on the third-place shuttle hurdle relay.
Max Dickinson added another third-place finish in the shot put. He recorded a throw of 47 feet 10 inches.
The Jaguars lost a close race in the sprint medley relay, finishing .30 seconds behind Winterset. The foursome of Joel Neith, Isaiah Bassett, Brayden Adams and Howe was clocked in 1:39.02.
Bassett also ran on the runner-up 4×200 relay. He teamed up with JJ Morgan, Reed Anderson and Reed to post a time of 1:34.58.
Centennial also placed second in the 4×100 relay. The quartet of Elijah Porter, Connor Welsch, Noah Ross and Jackson was clocked in 43.29 seconds.
The Jaguars will compete in the Jim Duncan Invitational on Saturday at Drake Stadium.
