Ankeny soccer standout Camryn Dietz has verbally committed to play for Drake.
Dietz, a junior midfielder, announced her decision on social media a week ago.
“I am so excited to announce that l’ve committed to further my academic and athletic career to play Division I soccer at Drake University!” Dietz tweeted on X. “Thank you to all my family, friends, teammates, and all the coaches who have helped me to become the player I am. Go Bulldogs.”
Dietz has helped Ankeny to a 13-4 record and a No. 3 ranking in Class 3A this season. The Hawkettes will play No. 6 Waukee in the quarterfinals of the state tournament on Tuesday at Cownie Park.
Dietz has scored four goals while racking up a team-high 10 assists. She had six goals and one assist as a sophomore, when she was named to the CIML Conference third team.
Drake posted a 13-4-3 record last season under coach Lindsey Horner.
“I chose Drake because of their great coaches and team,” Dietz said. “I felt welcomed from the start, and they really made the campus feel like home.”
