Four Ankeny softball players and three from Ankeny Centennial have been named to the academic all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
The Hawkettes were represented by Marah Hansen, Hannah Howard, Cassie Johnson and Ava Tomlinson. The Jaguars, meanwhile, placed Payton Drefke, Addie Pollock and McKenna Vallejo on the squad.
Pollock earned academic all-state honors for the third time during the 2023-24 school year. She was also honored for volleyball and track.
Howard and Johnson were also honored during basketball season. Drefke was honored for golf.
Honorees needed to score at least a 27 on the ACT, have a GPA of 3.75 or better, and be in the top 15 percent of their class.
