Ankeny Centennial wingback Sam Heither has committed to play football at Wartburg College next year.
Heither announced his decision on social media Wednesday.
“I was pretty keyed in on Wartburg during the recruiting process,” Heither said. “I loved the facilities and the culture that they have over in Waverly.”
Heither helped Centennial to an 8-3 record as a senior. The Jaguars reached the Class 5A quarterfinals before falling to Dowling Catholic, 14-10.
Heither’s versality was a valuable part of Centennial’s potent offense. He rushed for 171 yards and five touchdowns while catching 11 passes for 251 yards and two more scores.
Heither was named to a utility position on offense on the District 1 first team.
